I used to knit a lot. Then I stopped, because I just had enough sweaters. But I still always think I need to be productive while I'm watching television, so a couple of years ago I started a blanket. I used a simple 2-2 rib with stripes so I didn't have to think much about it. I thought I would just use up all my yarn stash and then be done, but instead I went out and bought horribly cheap acrylic so I could keep going, and so it would be easily washable when I was finished. As you can see, it has gotten huge. The dog sits on the bottom of it as it piles over my knees off the couch and onto the floor, and Michael mocks it (gently when he's relaxed, and "oh my god get this huge basket of crap out of here" when he's in a tidying up mood.)
Ella wanted to see just how big it was, so last night we spread it out over the bed. Yes, I think I might be ready to cast off. Only, what will keep me warm (because today is a forecast high of 4 F with a nasty wind chill) as we watch our Orphan Black tv marathons and what will I make next? I'm thinking squares would be pretty, except I want to keep this as mindless as possible so I don't lose track of the plot (which is why I'm not making socks).
