I might have mentioned something about moving to Minnesota once Ella leaves, but we just got back from a family vacation in Oregon, and Portland has edged out Minneapolis for the top spot on our short list. The vacation was great, and I'll post some pictures of it shortly, but I mostly want to share why Portland is awesome.

Seriously, the foodie side of Portland would be kind of annoyingly pretentious if it weren't so fabulous. This is a portion of what we bought at one little farmer's market: local berries and local liquor:
There was lots more - Powell's book store, dog friendly walkable streets, a pretty river, mountains on the horizon, an ocean within drive, an airport with direct flights to family, you get the idea. As Michael said, it is like they designed a city around his needs and he's being teased with it.
